My practice is LGBTQ+ affirming, welcoming clients from all backgrounds, identities, and walks of life.

My goal is to help you feel more grounded, connected, and confident in navigating whatever life brings — whether it’s anxiety, stress, relationship difficulties, loss, or questions about identity and meaning.

💬 How I Can Help
I work with clients who are seeking greater clarity, calm, and connection in their lives. Together, we’ll explore your experiences and emotions in a way that feels gentle but purposeful — helping you understand what’s been holding you back and creating space for meaningful change.
Common areas of focus include:

Anxiety, stress, and overwhelm
Relationship and communication challenges
Life transitions and decision-making
Grief, loss, and emotional healing
Self-esteem, identity, and personal growth
Reconnecting with yourself and others
Each session is uniquely tailored to your goals and pace, offering both reflection and practical tools to help you move forward.

🧠 My Approach
My work is rooted in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), mindfulness-based practices, and attachment-focused approaches. These evidence-based methods help clients understand their emotional patterns, deepen relationships, and develop resilience.
Therapy with me is collaborative — not about being “fixed,” but about discovering your own capacity for healing and growth. I believe in creating a calm, nonjudgmental environment where you can be fully yourself and explore life’s complexities with honesty and compassion.

🎓 My Background
I hold a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Counselling Psychology, and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC).

Over the years, I’ve worked with adults and couples from diverse backgrounds, including professionals, students, and individuals navigating major transitions in identity, career, and relationships. My experience includes both in-person and virtual counselling, giving clients flexibility to access support wherever they are.
My professional foundation combines academic knowledge, evidence-based training, and a deep belief in human resilience. I bring warmth, respect, and real-world understanding to every session.

🌼 What You Can Expect
In our work together, you’ll find a space where you can slow down, reflect, and be met with genuine curiosity and care. You don’t need to have all the answers — just the willingness to begin.

Expect....
A calm, welcoming environment (in-person or virtual)
A collaborative approach tailored to your unique goals
Evidence-based methods that promote healing and clarity
A focus on growth, balance, and emotional connection
I’ll walk beside you as we explore what’s been difficult — and what’s possible.

Starting therapy can feel like a leap, but it’s also one of the most meaningful steps you can take toward self-understanding and change.

I offer a free 15-minute consultation so you can ask questions, get a feel for my approach, and see if it feels like the right fit. Sessions are available in-person in downtown Vancouver and online across BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.

Stephen "Skip" Olshefsky

M.Sc., RCC

Hello, I’m Skip (he/him/his — though I prefer not to use pronouns). My name is a little different, and that reflects who I am.

I’m human—just like you—shaped by life’s challenges, changes, and growth. As a cisgender gay man, I know what it’s like to face both subtle and obvious pressure to fit into a heteronormative world.

I offer sex-positive counselling and sex therapy, primarily for gay men who want to reconnect with their true selves beyond society’s expectations. My goal is to help you build a sense of inner balance that supports all areas of your life.

While I focus on working with gay men, I welcome and affirm people of all identities. You don’t have to go through it alone—we’ll work together to find your path toward peace and authenticity.
